In the summers of 2010 and 2011, we were priviledged to work with the Northside Church of Christ in Syracuse, NY. We helped this small inner-city church to build relationships and make in-roads with its culturally diverse and economically challenged community. We knocked doors, hosted a VBS in a community park, and helped put on a week-long gospel meeting in that same park. We were challenged by many of the tough things we faced during the week and encouraged by the faith and determination of a small band of Christians who were trying to make a difference in a difficult area. Following the mission work, we spent a day in NYC. We rode the Staten Island Ferry, stood at the base of the Statue of Liberty, toured Ellis Island, went into a lot of cool stores, and finished up with a team dinner at Famous Dave's in Times Square. Our team did a fantastic job and each member grew tremendously during the week.
